A family operated property nestled in the foothills of the Darlington Range
Greenlee Farm is a property of 26.7 hectares set in the Darlington Range, Canungra, Queensland. It is our small piece of paradise that also borders on the clear pristine waters of Canungra Creek.
We began our journey of farming when we purchased our block in 1995. Along the way we have developed techniques to manage our farm to best suit our family and what our customers are looking for.
Greenlee Farm endeavours to be “clean and green”.
Products which we grow on our farm, such as macadamia nuts and honey, are nurtured by the family to assist with your good health. We believe that Greenlee Farm can provide “the healthy alternative”.
Greenlee Farm is a family operated property nestled in the foothills of the Darlington Range, Canungra, Queensland, with a boundary on the Canungra Creek.
Paul & Robyn Lee purchased the property in 1995 when it was used exclusively for grazing. They chose to develop a small macadamia orchard on the property. This involved many hours, days, weeks & months of back breaking work – starting with digging holes to plant trees, laying down irrigation pipework & sprinklers, and planting smother grass under macadamia trees to minimise erosion.
Bees are an integral part of the pollination process for growing macadamias so there has been a natural progression into beekeeping activities. This requires regular monitoring of hives for disease and pests.
There is always plenty of activity at Greenlee Farm. This could involve the nut harvest from March to July (including pickup, dehusking, cracking & packaging), fertilising, pruning, mowing, maintaining farm equipment or robbing bees.
Greenlee Farm is a great environment to bring up a young family with plenty of space & fresh air. Everyone is involved when the harvest is underway each year. Once a year we hold “Nutfest” which is an opportunity for the extended family & friends to come and help pick up macadamias. There is always a bit of fun thrown in for the kids as well.
An Abundance of Wildlife
Greenlee Farm is in the unique location of being near Lamington National Park and having the crystal clear waters of Canungra Creek running past the property. Since 1995 several hundred native species of trees, shrubs and grasses have been planted around the property, in addition to the macadamia orchard. This has helped create a natural habitat for many mammals, marsupials, reptiles and birds. Wildlife that has been spotted at Greenlee Farm include wallabies, grey kangaroos, koalas, bandicoots, bearded dragons, goannas, turtles, platypus, carpet pythons, red belly black snakes, eastern brown snakes, and a wide variety of birdlife including king parrots, azure kingfishers & wedge tail eagles.
We have been sellers of macadamia nut-in-shell (NIS) since 2003. We now have the ability to crack the NIS and package the kernel. As well as macadamias we bottle honey, and add our own distinct touch of cracked macadamias pieces with honey.
We are regular suppliers to Poppi’s Pantry – Boonah, Joseph the Green Grocer – North Tamborine, O’Reillys Canungra Valley Vineyard, White Fruits at Rivermill – Mt Nathan, Beaudesert, Boonah, Rathdowney and Canungra Visitor Information Centres.
